PRP & PRF therapy

Treatment

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) are regenerative skin treatments prepared from a small sample of your own blood. The platelet-rich portion is separated and reintroduced to the skin to support its natural renewal. Because it comes from your own biology, it appeals to people who want a natural starting point. At MT Aesthetics it is performed by Marie, our Registered Nurse, and always starts with a consultation.

How it works

A small blood sample is taken in clinic, then prepared in a centrifuge so the platelet-rich portion can be separated. That portion carries the growth factors your body uses in tissue repair, and it is reintroduced to the skin with fine, careful passes. PRF is prepared differently so it forms a soft fibrin structure that releases growth factors more slowly.

  • Sessions are unhurried; much of the appointment is preparation.
  • Treatments are usually planned as a course, because skin renews in slow cycles.
  • Which of PRP or PRF suits you, and whether either is appropriate at all, is assessed at your consultation.

What to expect afterwards

Expect some redness, tenderness and possibly light swelling or pinpoint bruising where the skin was treated, typically settling over the following days. Marie explains aftercare in person and you take written guidance home. Results build gradually across a course rather than overnight, and results vary from person to person.

Is it right for you?

PRP and PRF are not suitable for everyone; certain medical conditions and medicines matter. That is exactly what the consultation screens for, honestly and individually. If it is not right for your skin, Marie will tell you and explain what might serve you better.

Frequently asked

Does PRP or PRF hurt?

There is some discomfort, though most people find it very manageable. Numbing options and a careful, steady technique keep it as comfortable as possible, and Marie checks in with you throughout.

How many sessions will I need?

Usually a planned course rather than a single visit, because skin renewal happens in slow cycles. Your consultation sets out a realistic plan and timeframe for your skin, not a one-size answer.

Is there downtime?

Usually little. Redness and tenderness for a few days is common, and occasional light bruising is possible. Most people plan treatments away from big events, which Marie will help you time.
